Delhi Police files FIR against AAP’s Amanatullah Khan for ‘stopping’ Shaheen Bagh demolition campaign

Police have registered an FIR against AAP MP Amanatullah Khan for allegedly stopping the SDMC-led demolition campaign in Shaheen Bagh and using “force” against officials. Police said it was filed based on the civic body’s complaint.

DCP (South East) Esha Pandey said: “We have filed an FIR against Khan and his supporters under IPC Sections 186 (obstruction of a public official) and 353 (assault or remedy criminal force against an official). Appropriate legal action will be taken on the complaint filed by SDMC.

The SDMC Central Area Licensing Inspector filed the complaint. “While the staff and police personnel were present at the site… to carry out the said encroachment removal action, Sh. Amanatullah Khan MLA (Okhla) and his followers present did not allow the personnel to Central Zone terrain, SDMC, to remove encroachments. Their resistance was observed by the police…you are requested to take appropriate legal action against Shri Amanatullah Khan (MLA Okhla) and his followers for interference in the performance of their official duties by officials,” reads the letter sent to SHO from Shaheen Bagh Police Station. .
