League of Legends is one of the most popular multiplayer games in the MOBA genre. It is currently available for Microsoft Windows OS, macOS, and even mobile devices.
In League of Legends, players can choose from over 140 champions to form teams with and take advantage of each one’s abilities to create the best strategies.
However, currently League of Legends players on Mac devices cannot connect to the game after a recent Riot client update (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, ten). But, there is a workaround that helps to fix the problem.
League of Legends players can’t log in on Mac devices
The Riot Client is the “portal” through which League of Legends players can access the game (and other games from the company). Thus, an error in the client will prevent them from being able to play.
Recently, Riot Client for Mac devices received an update that should be common. However, the update “broke” the software.
So, League of Legends players on Mac have been unable to access the game for a few days now, as they are stuck on the “trying to reconnect” screen (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).
Every time I launch the league it gives me the reconnect try screen. It happens at random times, but now it’s every time I log in.

When the reconnection happens, it sticks around for what seems like an eternity. I waited several times and nothing happened.
Also, when it pops up, it won’t let me do anything on the client. All it says is reconnect and “quit instead” is the only option I get.

A fatal error in the latest Riot Client update
Apparently Riot Games made a error in the latest Riot Client update for Mac (macOS) devices, as they included executable files from the Windows operating system version.
Riot has therefore integrated Windows executables into the Mac client in its latest update, completely breaking the game on Mac. Pretty much the height of Riot’s developer course.

Riot Games already aware, potential workaround
The Riot Games team is aware of the issue in question and has stated that completely reinstalling the game works as a workaround to fix it.
📢[LoL/TFT] Some Mac players who updated the Riot client yesterday may experience loading issues in LoL and TFT. To correct this issue, affected players will need to reinstall LoL.
