Former Odfjell CEO Kristian Mørch joins Lauritzen Group (source: Odfjell, Gunnar Eide)
Mr. Mørch officially joins on August 1, 2022, as Managing Director of a company which controls all shipping-related investments of Lauritzen Fonden under J Lauritzen – Lauritzen Bulkers (100%), Dan Swift (100%) and several minority stakes in listed shipping companies, including BW Epic Kosan, Hafnia and Gram Car Carriers.
Lauritzen Fonden is a business foundation that supports non-profit activities, particularly aimed at children and young people in vulnerable situations.
Commercial activities are grouped in Lauritzen Fonden Holding, which manages investments with a market value of more than 10.0 billion Danish kroner ($1.4 billion).
In a statement, the Foundation said J Lauritzen is expected to make up a larger portion of the Foundation’s total investments.
Tommy Thomsen, Managing Director of Lauritzen Fonden and Chairman of the Board of J Lauritzen, said: “It is a great pleasure to announce that Kristian Mørch will take over as Managing Director of J Lauritzen from 1 August 2022. Kristian served as Executive Director of Odfjell SE and also served as Deputy Chairman of the Board of J Lauritzen during the company’s restructuring.”
Lauritzen Fonden, Chairman of the Board, Jens Ditlev Lauritzen, said: “J Lauritzen is in a strong position, and the entire Lauritzen Fonden Board is confident that with Kristian as CEO and Tommy as President, we have the right team to lead the positive development task ahead of us now.”
The Lauritzen Fonden also thanks the current managing director of J Lauritzen, Dorte Rolff, for her solid and competent efforts in the context of the restructuring. Ms. Rolff will continue as Group Legal Counsel after Mr. Mørch takes over as Chief Executive.
