Robredo and spox to sue online news site for false reporting – Manila Bulletin

Vice President Leni Robredo and her spokesperson Barry Gutierrez will file a complaint with the Quezon City Attorney’s Office on Friday, May 6 against the online news site for publishing “false statements “against them.

“To everyone on my case regarding filing a complaint: I will be filing a sworn complaint tomorrow May 6th at 10:30 a.m. at the Quezon City Attorney’s Office against those responsible for false reporting against me and vice -president Leni,” Gutierrez said in a tweet.

He added that “more details” will be provided after the case is filed on Friday.

Robredo is not expected to attend the filing of the case as she will be in her home region of Bicol for the final leg of her campaign.

In a media advisory, Gutierrez said he would file a sworn complaint “against a writer, owner and publisher of for violation of cybercrime law in connection with false statements contained in a press article published in said publication.

A news article published on on April 21 said exiled Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founder Jose Maria “Joma” Sison admitted to being a key contributor to Robredo’s campaign.

The article also alleged that Sison was acting as an adviser to Gutierrez.

Gutierrez and even Sison denied the news story.

Robredo has faced numerous red-tagging allegations in the past, but the latest has linked her directly to the exiled Communist Party founder.
