Members of the Employee Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) can file Covid-19 Advance online or through the UMANG app. Check out the step-by-step guide here.
With the upsurge in Covid-19 cases in the country, people must have funds available at all times to deal with any emergency that may arise. After the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the central government had said that members of the Employee Contingency Fund Organization (EPFO) could claim the Covid-19 advance online. EPFO further informed that people can apply for a Covid-19 advance through the UMANG app or by visiting the official EPFO website.
But before discussing the steps to do so, you should know that, according to EPFO, members of the EPF plan can obtain a non-refundable withdrawal up to the base salary and cost allowances for three months or up to 75 percent of the amount credited to them in the EPF account, whichever is less. The amount credited to EPF includes the employee’s share, the employer’s share and related interest.
You can apply for a Covid-19 advance if your UAN is validated with Aadhaar and KYC bank account and the mobile number is seeded in UAN. No certificate or document must be submitted by the member or his employer to take advantage of the benefit. In addition, it can be noted that the withdrawal is not refundable, there is no obligation to reimburse the amount.
How to declare Covid-19 Advance via the official EPFO website
1. Log in to the Unified Portal member interface (https://unifiedportalmem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface).
2. Access Online Services, then click on Complaints (Form-31,19,10C & 10D).
3. Enter the last 4 digits of your bank account and verify.
4. Click on “Proceed with online complaint”.
5. Select PF Advance (Form 31) from the drop-down list.
6. Select the goal as “Pandemic Outbreak (COVID-19)” from the drop-down menu.
7. Enter the required amount and download a scanned copy of the check and enter your address.
8. Click on “Get Aadhaar OTP”
9. Enter the OTP received on the mobile linked to Aadhaar.
10. The complaint is submitted.
How to file Covid-19 Advance via the UMANG app
Open the UMANG application on your smartphone and click on EPFO. However, if you don’t have the UMANG app, you need to install it from Google Play Store or App Store first.
You will then need to select ‘Request for advance (Covid-19)’.
After that provide or enter your UAN and click “Get OTP”.
Then submit the OTP and click on “Connect”.
After successfully logging in, you will need to enter your bank account number and select “Member ID” from the drop-down menu and click “Proceed to Claim”.
Enter the address and click ‘Next’.
Choose “Form 31” from the drop-down menu and fill in “Amount of Advance Required” and download “Check Image”. You should write down and verify details such as name, bank account number and IFSC should be clearly visible and the image should be in jpg or pdf format, with a maximum size of 100KB.
Check the Declaration box and “Submit OTP”. After receiving “Aadhaar OTP”, finally click on the “Send” button.
After completing all the steps mentioned above, your Covid-19 opt-out form will be submitted successfully.
